The Speedmaster Chronograph was created in 1957. From its inception it has been known for its high precision, sturdiness, readability, ease of use and reliability, and in 1969 it made its mark in history as the first watch to be worn on the Moon.. To this day, the Speedmaster remains the only watch certified by NASA for extra-vehicular activity and worn by astronauts
on all six lunar landings.
At the heart of this chronograph is OMEGA’s mechanical calibre 1861, the legendary manual-winding movement worn on the Moon. The indexes, central hour and minute hands are coated in Super-LumiNova. A hesalite crystal protects the dial enhanced with a 30-minute recorder, 12-hour recorder and small sec sub-dial. Each watch is offered with a special presentation box which includes a loupe, 2 additional straps – a “Nato” strap and a strap for astronauts as well as a tool to change the bracelet.
